Day 24: Rollerblading, Borderlands, Driving and Adria's (8/4/2010)

I overslept today. I got up around 11am and felt really groggy from sleeping too much. I had toast for breakfast again. Then I heard Baerbel calling me from her room. She wasn’t feeling well and planned to stay in bed for most of the day. It’s a good thing we canceled the trip to Dresden! I took my laptop outside and worked on uploading pictures to my blog for a few hours. My brothers got up a little after I did. Jona went to the pharmacy to get Baerbel a few things.

Lunch time rolled around too soon because we had all gotten up too late, but the four of us sat down to eat together anyway. Davin had cereal for breakfast, and the rest of us ate the noodle leftovers from yesterday. Baerbel received a call from her Doctor regarding an issue unrelated to her current illness, and was informed she could be seen this evening. Since she wasn’t feeling well she asked if I could drive her to the Doctor later. That sounded like fun to me!

After lunch, I took my computer back downstairs and continued working on the picture uploads. Davin and Jona were on their computers as well, Davin playing Mirror’s Edge, and Jona alternated between Prince of Persia and Counter Strike. Around 2:30PM I was ready to take a break, so Davin and I decided to go rollerblading. Actually, I spent an hour practicing how to break the advanced way, dragging one foot behind the other, because it’s too dangerous to use the built in break at high speeds. I made some progress but was getting tired so we only did a short 20 minute rollerblade around the neighborhood. We plan to rollerblade every day, weather permitting.

Back at the house, us three Tenhunen kids played Borderlands together until 5:30pm. Then I drove us all into town. Baerbel went to her Doctor’s appointment. Meanwhile, the three of us went to Adria’s Italian Restaurant for dinner. Davin and I are much happier with the prices of restaurants in Germany. They are cheaper than Britain and the exchange rate is better. I ordered a large Quattro Formaggi, and Davin ordered a large Napoli/Margherita. Davin insisted on eating his pizza the American way, with his bare hands! I was more refined, of course, and used knife and fork. Jona had Spaghetti Bolognese which he loves. He doesn’t eat pizza! All the waiters recognize Jonathan on sight, that is how often his family eats here. The pizza was delicious! Half way through the meal, our waiter informed us that Jona’s Mom was walking this way (see they really know them here). Jona said that one of the waiters has taken to calling Dad ‘Maistro’ because he brings people to dine there so often. Baerbel came in and asked us if we wanted to go to the Rotmain-Center (the mall) after dinner because she needed some things, and we all agreed we’d go together.

YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!

At the Rotmain-Center, Baerbel went to the pharmacy, Davin and I looked unsuccessfully for some indoor shoes for Davin (you can’t wear outside shoes in my Step-mom’s house, it’s a Germn thing), and Jona went off on his own. When he showed up again, Jona informed us that he had found a cheap PS3 controller for 15Euros. Davin and I bought the controller so the three of us can play games together on Jona’s PS3.

We then drove (I drove!) back to the house, and Davin, Jona, and I played Borderlands until the wee hours of the morning.
