Day 26: Skype, Mirror's Edge, and Rollerblades (8/7/2010)

I got up at 9am to talk to Scott. He was excited because he wanted to try out his new Webcam to chat on Skype. We talked for two hours. He got to watch me eat breakfast! Exciting stuff! ;p I kept telling him that he should go to bed, but he didn’t want to, so he stayed up ridiculously late and won’t be getting much sleep. It was fun being able to see him though. I kept chatting with him til my brothers got up (11am and 11:30am or so).

After breakfast, I went downstairs to play Mirror’s Edge. Davin and Jona were playing it too, but they were working on time trials rather than playing the main storyline. Baerbel made us some fish sticks and potatoes for lunch. At lunch we made plans to go into town at three so that Baerbel could run some errands while Davin and I rollerbladed on a really nice paved bike path bordering the town. I kept working on Mirror’s Edge til it was time to leave.

Baerbel dropped me and Davin off at the bike path. We had an hour and a half til we needed to meet her again, so we decided to go 45 minutes out, and then turn around and come back. We passed various types of construction yards, some corn fields, and two universities. My Dad works at one of them.

I practiced breaking while we went. I’m slowly getting better at it. I think I can take my built-in break off now. I never remember to use it anymore anyway, which is probably a good thing. When we turned around to come back we ended up getting to the meeting place a little too early, so we followed the path out of town a ways. The pavement there was still damp and slippery to rollerblade on, so we had to be really careful.

At five we met up with Baerbel again, and stopped by the grocery store on the way home to buy corn chips and cake. After tea and cake, I played Mirror’s Edge again til I beat it. It was a really fun game, challenging, but never too frustrating. Now I have to decide what to play next! Jona started playing the main storyline a few hours before I beat it, he wanted to try to beat it before me. No such luck, but he did play it about four hours faster than I did. (It wasn’t his first time playing it though.)

I skipped dinner because the cake had been enough food for me. Dinner was bread, meat and cheese though. Davin had a sandwich. Since I had finished my game but hadn’t yet decided what to play next, I texted Scott for awhile. He had just gotten home from Partners, so we briefly video chatted again. At 11pm my brothers were ready to play Borderlands. We played that together until 1am. Then I went to sleepy sleep.
