Day 54: The Halfway Point (9/4/2010)

**Today Our Trip is HALF Over!! Boy, what a long trip... What were we Thinking!?!?!**

Lissy and I got up at 10am today. I had a splitting headache. I think it was caused by the weird position I watched the movie in last night. Luckily, the headache went away pretty quickly after I took some medicine. Lissy, Maja, and I chatted for awhile around the kitchen table.

Around 1pm, Lissy and I went to tour the city by bike. This was a lot of fun. I really like riding bikes. It was a very convenient way to see the city. First, we rode through the main shopping district, and then through the Altmarkt until we arrived at the Frauenkirche. It is quite a nice church. It’s architecture is very unique. We decided to go to the top. From there you have an amazing 360degree view of the city. It is a very beautiful city, especially where the river Elbe winds through it.

Next we biked and walked past other impressive building and monuments. There are a lot of nice things to see in Dresden. Mostly, I was just interested in chatting with Lissy though, and we talked the entire time we were touring the city. The last thing she brought me to see was her music college. It was cool to see where she goes every day to learn music. It was a very nice school. I especially like the cafeteria which was in the courtyard of the original building, but is now made into an indoor room by the installation of a glass roof. Very cool.

It was around 4:30pm by now, and I decided I wanted to go back to the apartment to relax. So we went back to Lissy’s place. There I had some afternoon tea, and the sun finally came out! Silly weather. :p Then I finished watching a Star Trek: Voyager that I started a week ago, and chatted with Lissy some more.

At 7:30pm, we went out again to see Lissy’s friend Georg perform at the City Hall’s 100 year Anniversary Fest. Georg is a fire juggler. It was a very neat performance. Georg is quite talented. His hands and fingers must be very quick to twirl the batons so deftly. Or course the best part was when he spit fire. Always a neat trick to see.

Lissy introduced me to her friends briefly, then we went back to her apartment to relax some more. I worked on my computer for a short time. Lissy played the guitar and sang. In the end, we were both singing Evanescence together. Then Lissy and I watched the movie The Holiday, and went to bed at 2am.

  2. I will arrive back in San Diego on October 27... I think. Pretty sure. :) My trip is sooo stupidly long I have trouble keeping track of these details. ;p Luckily, I wrote down the whole plan and have all my important documents (like hotel reservation confirmations) in a folder I carry around with me. If I lose that folder we are soooo screwed!! >< rofl. :)
